AL GORE AND IPCC WIN NOBEL PRIZE

The nobel prize committee announcing Al Gore and the IPCC as nobel prize laureates was a surprise for me. I agree with their message and am convinced that every single person has to make a big effort for the climate crisis to be controlled. It was difficult to keep reading (certain) magazine articles, listening to TV interviews, where some engineer or publicist argued that the climate crisis was a figment of Al Gore's imagination. I even saw a lecturer at an important conference arguing against the 910 authours of the IPCC report. Free speech is a good thing, but how can one person argue against 910 others and still be invited by seemingly intelligent people. That same Futurologist can be seen on television too. He says that the world temperature has been high before.

That is true, the world was very, very hot before. But the human race cannot survive under these conditions, nor did it exist during those times. A couple of days ago, I saw a lecture by Andreas Fischlin, one of the leading IPCC authours, and he mentioned that the famous "warmer" phase of the earth was many, many millions of years ago. Fischlin is a biologist and was a co-coordinator of one of the current IPCC reports.

Andreas Fischlin, said, that if the global warming continues at the present growth rate, 20 to 80% of existing species will die out. He appologized, that it is not possible to predict the exact number. But even 20% species extinction is a catastrophical concept. Remember, all individuals of a certain species are predicted to die. Some people don't like to hear the word catastrophe. I don't either. So that is why I want to do whatever I can to reverse the process.

Al Gore, IPCC (and the more than 900 collaborators in their climate reports) congratulations !
